Unreal Tournament: Community Map CTF-Control Overview, Epic CTF Maps Preview

This week on the Unreal Tournament live stream, the team took at the CTF map, "Control" by community level designer "Jayoplus". The Unreal Tournament team had a chance to playtest the map and they really enjoyed it! The team offered Jay some suggestions and let him know what they enjoyed about the map. You can download the map today and give feedback HERE.

The team also took us through the new CTF maps made by the UT team, like Sidney Rauchberger's new asymmetrical map "Crashsite." The community is really enjoying the map because of its great sniper perches and flag routes. The map will be included in the latest build and Sidney is looking for feedback in THIS thread.  

Nick Donaldson's newest, CTF-Blank, was next up. This symmetrical map has a lot of great escape routes, including a stream through the middle of the map that will carry you to safety quickly. The drawback is you're wide open as you travel gently down the stream. This map will also be available in this week's build. If you'd like to read more about the map and give your feedback, go HERE.

Unreal Tournament: November Community Event Recap!

Last weekend, ten Unreal Tournament fans descended on Epic Games headquarters to play the new Unreal Tournament and give the UT team feedback about the game. We wound up making some great friends and having an amazing weekend we won't soon forget. We had guest from the Unreal Tournament modding community, programmers, server admins and competitive gamers.

During the weekend, the visitors played some games against each other and against Epic Games developers for some great prizes by Logitech and Steelseries. We also gave away some  great Unreal Tournament swag!

Unreal Tournament: The New Bio Rifle Prototype, Community Event and More!

Unreal Tournament: Bots, New Map Updates, HUD Progress and Swag!

On this week's live stream, Senior Gameplay Programmer Matt Oelfke talked a bit about the work he has done on the bots in Unreal Tournament and how to get them into your level. If you have questions for Matt about bots and AI, head over to the Unreal Tournament Level Design Forums.

Senior Level Designer Sidney Rauchberger took a look at his new maps, CTF-Outside and DM-asdf. (Love those inventive names Sid!) Members of the Unreal Tournament community have been really excited to play CTF-Outside and the map is now available in the latest build. DM-asdf is already a community favorite and Sid showed us some of the changes he's made to the map.

Senior Gameplay programmer Joe Wilcox also stopped by to give us an update on the community made HUDs for the game. We don't have the design nailed down just yet, but we have a great start towards a working HUD for Unreal Tournament. A big thanks to the Unreal Tournament community for all of their hard work on this!

Project Lead Steve Polge gave a programming update and Community Manager Stacey Conley (me!) gave the news that there is now Unreal Tournament merchandise in the Epic Games Store. More on that later today!

Unreal Tournament: Community Video, UT HUD, Trello QA Database and More!

We had a full show this week and to start it off, Developer Support Specialist Zack Estep talked a bit about the new process for submitting bugs for Unreal Tournament. Visit THIS thread if you'd like to learn more about the bug database or submit a bug.

Next up, Senior Gameplay Programmer Joe Wilcox showed us some HUD images created by the community as well as some from Maria Fernandez from Epic Games QA. Joe explained what he'd like to see in the HUD and encouraged people to submit their own designs or talk about the current ones in THIS thread.

Worldwide Studios Art Director, Chris Perna took a look at the Trello Unreal Tournament Content board that has just gone live. Chris explained that cards marked with purple could use some help from the community.

And finally, we premiered the Unreal Tournament Community Event recap video! On September 5th, 2014, Epic Games and the Unreal Tournament team brought in a few members of the community to play the early prototype of Unreal Tournament. We invited a broad spectrum competitive players and enthusiasts from each generation of Unreal Tournament as well as Unreal Tournament community contributors.

This was only the first of our UT events and we're looking forward to hosting more people in the future. We’re super excited about the new game and they unique way it’s being built. We know that some good one-on-one time with members of the community will help with the development process and we look forward to their live and unfiltered feedback.You can view the video on YouTube right now!
